Latisse

Hartford | Avon CT

Radiance Medspa is proud to make available to our patients Latisse, a prescription treatment for growing longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes. Latisse is the first and only FDA approved treatment for people with inadequate or insufficient eyelashes. Its use has been clinically demonstrated to result in longer and more luxurious eyelashes.

Latisse works by extending the length of time that eyelash hairs stay in the growth phase and by increasing the number of eyelash hairs that are in the growth phase. This means that as your existing eyelash hairs are replaced with new eyelash hairs, the new hairs will be thicker, darker, and longer. However, Latisse will not affect the appearance of your existing eyelash hairs. (You may continue to use mascara in addition to Latisse solution until your new thicker and more luxurious eyelashes grow out.)

LATISSE Radiance MedspaAlthough results will be apparent soon after treatment, the effects of the Dysport injections will become more evident in the following days, as the solution relaxes the muscles. Because only specific muscles are affected by the Dysport injections, the result is a natural, but less stressful, more youthful appearance.

Dysport Cosmetic Side Effects

Dysport is very well tolerated and side effects are minimal. In some patients, there may be slight bruising or swelling in the injection site, as well as some minor, temporary discomfort. In addition, a small number of patients may experience a headache following treatment, which can be treated with over-the-counter medications.

Additionally, a very small number of individuals may experience what is known as “ptosis,” or eyelid drooping. This condition will resolve within a few days to as many as four weeks following treatment. A very small percentage of patients may also experience flu-like symptoms or rash. These side effects should be reported to your doctor.

Dysport Cosmetic Results

The initial results of Dysport are visible very soon after treatment, with optimal results visible several days after the injections, once the product has fully affected the underlying muscles. In physicians who have used both Dysport and Botox regularly, Dysport has been noted in many instances to have better “spread”” – that is, to disperse more evenly in the treated area – and to give faster results. Some studies also report Dysport lasts 1 to 2 months longer than Botox, usually lasting from 5 to 8 months in most patients. Like any cosmetic product, your results will vary. Repeated courses of treatment prolong the results of Dysport treatment. You can ensure the best results possible by discussing your goals and expectations with ou pracationers prior to treatment with Dysport.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is LATISSE®?

Latisse solution, a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis, promotes the growth of eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. Hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

How does LATISSE® work?

LATISSE® is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in two ways: first, it increases the length of this phase; and second, it increases the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works is unknown.

Could Latisse darken my eyelids?

Skin hyperpigmention (or skin darkening) is a less common side effect, which typically occurs close to where the solution is applied on the skin. This is due to an increase of melanin in the skin. The pigmentation is expected to increase as long as bimatoprost is administered, but has been reported to be reversible in most patients upon discontinuation of bimatoprost. Could LATISSE® cause the color of my eyes to change?

Increased brown iris pigmentation has occurred when the same formulation of bimatoprost ophthalmic solution was instilled directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure. Although iris pigmentation was not reported in clinical studies with LATISSE®, patients should be advised about the potential for increased brown iris pigmentation which is likely permanent.

Are there any possible side effects?

Throughout clinical trials, some users did experience itchy eyes and eye redness. However, some users found that these irritations went away once they became accustomed to the product or began applying it properly. How long do the results last?

To maintain effect, continued treatment with LATISSE® is required. If use of LATISSE® is discontinued, eyelashes will gradually return to where they were prior to treatment over a period of weeks to months (average eyelash hair cycle).

How soon will results appear?

LATISSE® users can expect to experience longer, fuller and darker eyelashes in as little as eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks.
