Dermapen microneedling helps soften acne scars, fine lines, uneven texture, and signs of aging by encouraging your skin’s natural repair process.

AIO Dermapen

Hartford | Avon CT

The World’s Most Advanced Natural Collagen Induction Therapy System

Fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks, and enlarged pores don’t have to be permanent. Dermapen offers a powerful solution for skin rejuvenation without lasers or surgery. It’s often called a “skin eraser” because of how effectively it improves tone, texture, and firmness—naturally stimulating your skin’s own collagen.

What Is Dermapen?

Dermapen is a professional microneedling device designed to target signs of aging, scarring, and uneven skin texture. Unlike older dermal rollers, Dermapen uses a precise, automated tip with adjustable needle depth to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These tiny channels trigger your body’s natural healing response—kickstarting new collagen and elastin production from deep within the skin.

Who Is Dermapen Good For?

Dermapen microneedling may be a good fit if you want a natural collagen-stimulating treatment for rough texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, mild wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, dullness, crepey skin, or overall skin quality. Because microneedling does not rely on laser energy, it can be a helpful option for patients who want skin renewal with limited downtime.

Dermapen is ideal for individuals looking to improve:

  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Stretch marks
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin laxity
  • Uneven skin tone and rough texture

It's safe and effective for most skin types and commonly used on the face, neck, décolletage, and even stretch-mark-prone areas like the stomach and thighs.

Dermapen may not be the best first choice if your main concern is significant skin laxity, deep facial folds, volume loss, brown spots, redness, rosacea, active acne, or advanced sun damage. During your consultation, Radiance Medspa will determine whether Dermapen microneedling, Vivace RF Microneedling, chemical peels, Botox, dermal fillers, medical-grade skincare, or a combination plan is the better fit.

Why Choose Dermapen Over Traditional Microneedling?

  • Precision control with adjustable depth for customized treatment
  • Minimal discomfort with fast recovery time
  • No risk of cross-contamination due to sterile single-use cartridges
  • Better results thanks to vertical penetration and automated motion

How Dermapen Microneedling Works

Collagen Induction Therapy

The secret behind Dermapen lies in collagen induction therapy (CIT). By stimulating the dermis—the skin’s deeper layer—without significantly damaging the surface, Dermapen promotes skin remodeling from the inside out. You may begin to see a healthier glow within days, with firmer, smoother skin developing over the next several months.

How Dermapen Stimulates Collagen

Dermapen microneedling uses a specialized device with fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. These microchannels trigger the skin’s natural repair process, encouraging new collagen and elastin production over time.

Radiance Medspa uses the SkinPen, the first FDA cleared, medical-grade microneedling device. Beware of imported pen devices which cannot guarantee sterile needle specifications.

The treatment does not remove skin the way an ablative laser can. Instead, it encourages gradual skin renewal, which can help improve the look of texture, scars, pores, fine lines, and overall smoothness.

Dermapen vs. Vivace RF Microneedling

Dermapen microneedling creates controlled microchannels to stimulate collagen without radiofrequency energy. It is often chosen for texture, pores, fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks, and overall skin renewal. Vivace RF Microneedling combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, making it a stronger option when mild skin laxity, tightening, deeper collagen remodeling, or firmness are major goals.

If your priority is skin renewal without added RF energy, Dermapen may be a better fit. If your priority is tightening plus texture improvement, Vivace may be recommended. Radiance Medspa will help you choose based on your skin type, scar depth, laxity, downtime preferences, sensitivity, and goals.

How to Prepare for Dermapen Microneedling

Before treatment, avoid tanning, intentional sun exposure, and self-tanner. Tell your provider if you have active acne, cold sores, open skin, recent sunburn, recent laser treatments, recent chemical peels, recent filler or Botox, pregnancy, a history of keloids or poor wound healing, or medications that affect healing.

Your provider may ask you to pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs, or other active skincare products before treatment. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup, fragrance, or heavy skincare on the treatment area when possible.

What to Expect for Acne Scars, Pores, and Texture

Dermapen microneedling can help soften the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, enlarged-looking pores, and uneven texture by encouraging new collagen formation. Results are gradual and usually build over a series of treatments. Shallow texture concerns may improve more quickly, while deeper or tethered scars may require multiple sessions or a combination plan.

Radiance Medspa may recommend Dermapen alone or combine it with Vivace RF Microneedling, chemical peels,medical-grade skincare, or another treatment depending on scar type, skin tone, sensitivity, and goals.

After Treatment

Dermapen Recovery Timeline

Day 0:

Skin may look red and feel warm, tight, or sensitive, similar to a sunburn.

Days 1:

Redness usually improves. Skin may still feel tender, dry, tight, or slightly swollen.

Days 2–3

Skin may feel dry, rough, or mildly flaky as the renewal process begins.

Days 3–7

Skin often looks calmer, smoother, and brighter as the surface recovers.

Weeks 4–6

Collagen and elastin remodeling continue, with gradual improvement in texture, pores, scars, fine lines, and overall skin quality.

Series results

A treatment series can build more noticeable improvement over time, especially for acne scars, stretch marks, rough texture, and deeper concerns.

Dermapen Microneedling Aftercare

After Dermapen microneedling, keep the skin clean, calm, and protected. Use only the post-care products recommended by Radiance Medspa for the first 24–48 hours. Avoid makeup until your provider says it is safe, and avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, hot tubs, saunas, hot yoga, heavy sweating, exfoliating scrubs, retinoids, acids, benzoyl peroxide, fragrance, and harsh active skincare while the skin is healing.

Do not pick, scrub, or aggressively exfoliate the treated area. Your provider will explain when to restart your normal skincare routine and when to schedule your next treatment.

What Areas Can Dermapen Treat?

Dermapen microneedling is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, décolleté, hands, shoulders, back, abdomen, thighs, and other areas where texture, scars, pores, fine lines, stretch marks, or skin quality are concerns.

Face

Pores, acne scars, fine lines, dullness, and uneven texture.

Neck

Crepey texture, fine lines, and skin-quality support.

Chest/décolleté

Fine lines, roughness, stretch marks, and texture changes.

Back and shoulders

Acne scars, body scars, and uneven texture depending on scar depth and location.

Abdomen and thighs

Stretch marks, mild texture changes, and collagen support depending on skin quality.

Treatment depth and recovery may vary by area because skin thickness, sensitivity, and scar depth differ across the face and body.

Who Performs Dermapen Microneedling at Radiance Medspa?

Your Dermapen treatment is planned and performed by a trained Radiance Medspa medical aesthetics provider. Before treatment, your provider evaluates your skin type, texture, scar depth, pore size, sensitivity, treatment area, medical history, current skincare, recent treatments, downtime preferences, and goals.

Because microneedling depth and technique can be adjusted for a light refresh, texture improvement, scars, stretch marks, pores, or fine lines, provider judgment matters as much as the device itself.

Safety, Side Effects & When Dermapen May Not Be Right for You

Expected temporary effects may include redness, warmth, tightness, sensitivity, pinpoint bleeding, dryness, roughness, mild swelling, or mild bruising. Less common risks can include prolonged redness, irritation, infection, acne-like breakouts, pigment changes, scabbing, delayed healing, or an unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome.

Dermapen microneedling may need to be delayed or adjusted if you have active acne, open wounds, infection, recent sunburn, recent laser or peel treatment, a history of poor wound healing, keloid-prone scarring, pregnancy, or medications that affect healing. Your Radiance Medspa provider will review your skin, health history, medications, recent treatments, current skincare, and treatment goals before recommending treatment.

Dermapen vs. Other Skin Treatments

Dermapen is typically chosen when the main goals are natural collagen stimulation, texture improvement, pores, fine lines, scars, stretch marks, and overall skin renewal without laser energy. CoolPeel may be better for gentle laser refresh, dullness, mild pigment, and early aging. Palomar ICON may be better when brown spots, redness, rosacea, and visible vessels are the primary concerns. Chemical peels or Vivace may be better for surface renewal, glow, pigment, or no-downtime biostimulation depending on your skin. Botox and fillers may be better when the concern is muscle movement, volume loss, facial balancing, or deeper folds.

Radiance Medspa will help determine whether Dermapen should be used alone or as part of a combination plan.
