What to Expect from your Cosmelan Peel
1st WeekDuring the first two days of treatment, the skin may turn red, and if the skin is very sensitive, the patient may experience an “itching” feeling.
The reddening that occurs on the face is similar to the effects of a day long exposure to the sun in the snow without protection.
Flaking and peeling most likely will occur (and more intensely in photo types I & II) between the 2nd and 3rd day. In this case it is advisable to apply the HydraVital Factor K cream every two hours.
Slight burning and tightening of the skin is also absolutely normal, especially during the first 24 to 48 hours after starting the treatment.
To relieve these problems, it is advisable to apply the HydraVital Factor K whenever necessary. You may also apply a cortizone cream to sooth irritated area, or limit the application of the Cosmelan 2 to twice a day instead of three. Please always call the office if protocol is deviated in any way.
Appointment should be made to evaluate your progress by one of our clinicians.
